The first Heroes Hub Youth Empowerment Summit took place last November 30, 2018, on the day of the celebration of the heroism of Bonifacio, the father of the Philippine Revolution. 300 youth leaders convened to discuss the heroic journey of our heroes who have shaped our nation’s past, to determine the prospects and challenges of the state of our nation and to explore visions and versions of our truths in our struggle to build a true nation of heroes.
Historian Xiao Chua talked about the ‘Pains of the Past’, a P.O.P. history session on the struggles of our nation. DAKILA President Lourd de Veyra talked about the ‘WAZAK State of the Nation’ while fashion designer and feminist Mich Dulce tackled ‘Fashioning the Passion for Women’s Rights’. Award-winning journalist Raffy Lerma showed ‘Moving Pictures’ while musician BP Valenzuela performed and talked about ‘Rights and Rhythm’. Actress Chai Fonacier presented viewpoints from Filipinos from the regions and spoken word artist Juan Miguel Severo shared ‘Words that Speak’ to the participants. Musician and Human Rights Lawyer Atty. Pochoy Labog ended the forum with a discussion on basic human rights. The 2nd Youth Empowerment Summit shall happen on November 30, 2018.
